Is this a dance class? It's not a dance class, though there's a lot of walking, and variations on walking that might include claps, snaps, taps, flaps, gentle hops and more! We combine our moves into interesting combinations that help us internalize different rhythmic concepts, all to a background of fun music of wide ranging styles. We get a mild aerobic workout, and sometimes it feels like we are dancing - but our basic move is walking! Expect to be quite active during class.
Is it beginning or advanced? There's just one level, and the moves start simple and progress. Like many other movement classes, you enter at your own level and you get better as you go. The class as a whole advances through the semester.

Do I need to have a music background? No experience is necessary, but this class is designed with choir members in mind, primarily because Maggie noticed that singers sometimes struggle with rhythm, and don't feel comfortable moving while singing. That being said, developing rhythm is fun and rewarding for everyone and all are invited!

Will we be singing? This is not a singing class, and most of the time we are moving around to music without using our voices. Every now and then we might speak or sing a short phrase in order to emphasize a concept but no singing skill is required.
